Cats Creek

Another installment in my Oakland series. This is Sausal Creek, located in Dimond Park. There's a flock of feral cats living by this part of the creek. The feral cats, who normally shun humans, love and depend on the Cat Lady. Sitting at this spot, I could hear her feeding them, and they would come meowing to her.

I also got to know Philip, one of the local characters here in Oakland. Philip is an older man who is always banging his stick on the walls or the play structure. One day, while sitting in this spot, I heard beautiful music echoing from the tunnel just next to it. I ventured inside to investigate. As I entered the darkness of the tunnel and became surrounded by the wind of music, I hear a voice, "Don't step on my stick!" Turns out it was Philip, who was playing his harmonica. I showed him my drawing in progress, and he told me that most master artists copy their work over and over again until it's perfect. A few days later, drawing in the same spot, he gave me and my friends a joint.
